Making a-preset
If you're not given an InDesign template, it's a good idea to make one for yourself. This guide will show you how to do it.
- To create a new file, go to
File > New > Document
or press CMD + N
- Identify your print dimensions. For this example, we'll be using 5" x 7.5" with a 1/8" margin and 1/8" bleed.
- Change the units to Inches, and then fill in the Width, Height, Margins, and Bleed. Make sure to have "Facing Pages" checked. Everything else can be changed later as needed.
- Use the "Save Document Preset" button (highlighted below) to assign a name to this preset and save it for future use.
- You can stop here, or you can click Create,
File > Save As...
, and save this template somewhere you can find it later.
